About E. Rodriguez & Co.

Fifteen years inside every stage of an engineering team.

I'm E. Rodriguez. For the past 15 years I've lived on the inside of software — as a developer, a senior engineer, and eventually the leadership team. I've built organizational process from scratch, both technical and those involving people. I've run 1:1s that catch problems before they become resignations, and sat close enough to the architecture to know which risks are "fine for now" and which ones will cost you if you ignore them.

Sooner or later, every non-technical founder has to make a call they're not equipped to make alone — whether to rebuild the platform, whether the CTO candidate is any good, whether "six months" is a real estimate or a stall. In that moment, there are two bad options: trust an engineer who explains in jargon instead of plain language, or make the call blind. I close that gap.

E. Rodriguez & Co. is how I do that now: focused, senior-level engineering leadership for founders who need the judgment of a CTO before they need — or can justify — a full-time one. You don't need to know how to read code to work with me; you just need to be the one who has to decide. I'll sit with you, look at what your team has built (or is proposing to build), and tell you — in plain language — what's actually risky, what's actually fine, what it should cost, and what it should take. Then I'll help you build the plan or team structure to get there.

What I've done

  • Scaled engineering orgs from a handful of developers to 50+ supporting multiple products.
  • Led architecture through the transitions that break early systems.
  • Modernized aging tech stacks.
  • Built hiring and interview processes, from first engineer to technical lead.

How I work

Good technical advice is useless if it's not tailored to your actual constraints — your runway, your team, your customers. So I start by understanding those, not by prescribing a stack. My job is to leave you with fewer open questions and a plan you can act on.

The best way to find out if that's what you need is a short initial consultation — a conversation about your team, your constraints, and where the real risk is, so you walk away with a clearer picture whether or not we end up working together.

Let's talk about your team.

A short call is the fastest way to find out whether I can help — and I'll be straight with you either way.
